AI intake for behavioral health

Mental health intake that's done before the clinician walks in.

Mira is an AI voice agent that runs the structured psychiatric pre-assessment with your patients, by phone or on an in-clinic kiosk. Your clinicians walk in briefed, and Mira scribes the session into billing-ready DA, ITP and E&M documentation in your EHR.

From first contact to signed DA, in one flow

01

The patient starts on the kiosk or by phone

Walk-ins tap in at a kiosk in the clinic; others call a number from home, with no app or portal. Mira can run 24/7, supporting CCBHC access requirements.

02

Mira runs the structured pre-assessment

A spoken, adaptive interview covering history, current concerns, risk and medications. The content is fully customizable, so each clinic sets its own questions and screeners, such as the PHQ-9 and BAM, which are scored automatically.

03

The clinician walks in briefed

A structured summary with risk flags, scored screeners and key history is ready before the session starts.

04

Mira scribes, the clinician signs

The DA, ITP and E&M are drafted during the session, reviewed and signed by the clinician, and pushed to your EHR with one button.

About 4 in 5 patients have used the kiosk, and about 1 in 5 have called in. Across partner clinics, as of September 2026.

Safety by design

Risk escalates to a human. Always.*

Patient-facing AI has to handle risk safely. Mira's escalation is built into your clinical protocol, not left to a model setting.

Two triggers

What the patient says, and certain screener responses and scores.

A live, warm handover

Mira hands over to a clinician on your team. The kiosk pauses; a phone call routes through.

Your protocol

Escalation follows each clinic's own protocol and contacts, validated before go-live.

*Escalation is built into every Mira deployment, but AI can make mistakes and technology can fail. Mira is not a crisis service and does not replace clinical judgment or emergency care. In an emergency, call 911 or the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.

Why intake forms aren't enough

A counseling intake form collects answers. A conversational intake asks follow-up questions and organizes what it hears, before the session starts.

Fits your EHR and your scribe

Writes to your EHR

Our clinics use CareLogic, SmartCare and Credible; other EHRs connect via RPA or API. Notes and screener scores arrive together, with no re-entry.

Works alongside your scribe

Qualifacts iQ and SMARTscribe start when the session does. Mira starts earlier, with the patient, so the two can run together.

The clinician stays in control

The clinician reviews and signs every note. HIPAA compliant, with a BAA. Mira is not a diagnostic device.

Frequently asked questions

What is AI mental health intake?

AI mental health intake software gathers the structured intake and pre-assessment directly from the patient before the clinician sees them. With Mira it is a spoken conversation, by phone or on an in-clinic kiosk, rather than a form, and it produces a structured summary the clinician uses to complete the diagnostic assessment.

Does Mira diagnose patients?

No. Mira is a pre-assessment information-collection system, not a diagnostic device. The licensed clinician makes every diagnosis and reviews and signs every note.

What happens if a patient discloses suicidal ideation or other risk?

A disclosure in conversation, or certain screener responses and scores, is routed to your team straight away. Mira initiates a warm handover to a clinician on the team: on the kiosk the flow pauses, and on the phone the call routes through. Escalation follows each clinic's own protocol and contacts, validated with the clinical team before go-live. AI can make mistakes and technology can fail, so Mira does not replace clinical judgment. It is not a crisis service; in an emergency, call 911 or 988.

Does Mira collect standardized screeners like the PHQ-9?

Yes. The pre-assessment is fully customizable, so you choose which screeners it includes, such as the PHQ-9 and BAM. They are completed during intake and scored automatically. Scores go into the EHR alongside the notes, and certain responses and scores trigger a risk escalation to a clinician.

Is Mira HIPAA compliant? Do you sign a BAA?

Yes, and yes. Mira is HIPAA compliant, and Psyrin signs a Business Associate Agreement (BAA).

Is audio recorded, and who can access it?

Audio from the pre-assessment is saved and available to the clinic. Patients can choose to opt in to contributing their audio to Psyrin's voice-biomarker research. Audio from the scribed clinician session is not made available, for privacy; the transcript always is.

We already use Qualifacts iQ or SMARTscribe. Do we still need Mira?

Those tools draft the clinician's note once the session starts. Mira runs the structured pre-assessment before the clinician walks in and scribes the DA, ITP and E&M, so the encounter itself is shorter. The two can be used together.

Will patients actually talk to an AI about their mental health?

They do. Across partner clinics, 82% of patients who gave feedback said they would recommend Mira, as of September 2026.

What languages does Mira support?

Mira supports English today.

How long does it take to go live? Is Mira available 24/7?

Typically 2–6 weeks without EHR integration, and 6–12 weeks with it. Mira can run 24/7, supporting CCBHC access requirements.

Mira is a pre-assessment information collection system, not a clinical diagnostic instrument. It is not designed or validated to detect, screen for, or diagnose any mental health condition, suicidality, or risk of self-harm. Built-in guardrails are intended to route relevant disclosures to a qualified clinician on the care team; they are not a substitute for emergency services and do not constitute a crisis response. Clinical judgement and all diagnostic decisions remain the sole responsibility of the licensed clinician. If there is immediate risk to life, contact emergency services (911) or a crisis line (988) directly.
