The best AI intake and documentation software for behavioral health (2026)
AI intake, ambient scribe and documentation tools for community behavioral health organizations, CCBHCs and psychiatry groups, compared on what matters: when each one starts, what it produces, and where it writes.
At a glance
Intake tools work with the patient before the visit; scribes work with the clinician during it. Many organizations need both.

Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between AI intake software and an AI scribe?
AI intake software works with the patient before the visit, gathering history, screeners and risk information and handing the clinician a structured summary. An AI scribe works with the clinician during the visit, listening to the session and drafting the note. Intake shortens the encounter; a scribe shortens the documentation afterwards. Mira does both.
Can I use an AI intake tool alongside my EHR's built-in scribe?
Yes. An intake tool finishes its work before the session starts, and a native scribe such as Qualifacts iQ or SMARTscribe starts when the clinician does. Mira writes into CareLogic and SmartCare, so it can sit alongside either.
Which AI documentation tools work with CareLogic or SmartCare?
Based on the public materials reviewed for this guide: Psyrin Mira (CareLogic and SmartCare), Eleos Health (CareLogic, SmartCare and several other behavioral health EHRs), Qualifacts iQ (CareLogic, Credible and InSync) and Streamline SMARTscribe (SmartCare). Clinically AI has presented a CareLogic integration at a conference, though it isn't yet described on its website.
Are AI intake and scribe tools HIPAA compliant?
Each vendor sets its own terms, so ask every vendor for its Business Associate Agreement and security documentation before any patient data is shared. Mira is HIPAA compliant, and Psyrin signs a BAA.
Do AI intake tools diagnose patients?
Mira does not: it is a pre-assessment information-collection system, and the licensed clinician makes every diagnosis. Some tools elsewhere are regulated as medical devices; Limbic, for example, is a UK Class IIa medical device.
How much does AI intake or scribe software cost?
Most enterprise behavioral health tools are quote-based. Some practice-focused tools publish prices; Jane App, for example, lists plans from $54 per month plus an AI Scribe add-on. Psyrin doesn't publish pricing; book a demo to discuss pricing for your organization.

Book a demoMira is a pre-assessment information collection system, not a clinical diagnostic instrument. It is not designed or validated to detect, screen for, or diagnose any mental health condition, suicidality, or risk of self-harm. Built-in guardrails are intended to route relevant disclosures to a qualified clinician on the care team; they are not a substitute for emergency services and do not constitute a crisis response. Clinical judgement and all diagnostic decisions remain the sole responsibility of the licensed clinician.
